Introduction: I met Tim online in a fashion and style forum in 2015. Before everyone quit blogging for Instagram, the big site to post fashion outfits was Lookbook.nu. Me and Jessica, my gf, would comb the site for dope styles, and when someone stuck out(a lot did), we’d reach out to ask them our Top 5 Questions about their life, creativity, and inspirations.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi strangers, my name is Tim, I am 20 years old and I live in Germany. When I’m not living my life on the internet, you’ll probably find me skating, making music, designing something, or getting creative in some way. That may be the reason I’m currently studying media design. For someone who doesn’t know me, I would describe myself as funny, colorful, creative, and sometimes a little bit weird.
2. If you had to choose, what would you say was your favorite item of clothing?
I actually have two favorite items: the Windows 95 print trousers and the sweatshirt, I made myself. I really like these items, because I did everything myself, from designing the pattern of the fabric to sewing the trousers. I’m really pleased with how they turned out and I love that they’re truly unique.
3. Would you say that your style defines who you are?
Definitely! Our taste in fashion is the easiest way to distinguish ourselves from each other, and also it’s what makes the first impression. Another reason why we try to define ourselves via our outfit is that our society teaches us, that our appearance is very important. We are even more focused on how we look, how we dress, and what impression of us everyone has. This is kind of a sad evolution, but because everybody nowadays wants to be unique, we see so many new styles and trends pop up and people getting creative with fashion, which, in my opinion, is a very good thing.
4. At what age did you become interested in fashion and what got you interested in it?
I became interested in fashion aroud the age of 14. That was when I got my first own computer and I discovered the internet properly. I discovered new brands that I had never even heard of and got inspired by all kinds of stuff. At the age of 15 I started to alter clothes myself and some time later I sowed my first clothes (with a lot of help from my mum).
5. What’s your favorite place to shop?
I have to say the internet in general. Because the shops we have here in Germany are all really boring and only sell ugly rags, so I don’t really go shopping here. I just see clothes on the internet and either order them immediately or try to make them myself. There are a few internet shops I visit regularly, like Lazy Oaf, T.E.I.N. Clothing or O-mighty, but I usually find stuff randomly on Tumblr or Instagram.
Bonus: 6. Fresh Fuzion is about blending multiple styles and inspirations. What’s your Fuzion?
My fuzion is webpunk and a 90s acid raveparty carefully blended together and dipped into a pot of molten rainbow.
